This courtyard garden needed to allow more scope for this generous family to entertain within a garden setting. The entry to the property needed a more welcoming and accessible approach. This has been resolved with a dramatic new gate opening onto a generous textured concrete path and steps to the front door offering direct entry into the garden. The gate is now made of corten steel and a new corten steel balustrade on the upper balcony gives a strong linking element.

Expanding the original patio and building a long Totara seat beside the barbeque has given these clients a versatile all-year entertaining and eating area. The existing plantings now have added colour, perfume and drama with a considered palette of natives, exotics and edibles. This family loves to garden and have a real interest in seasonal plantings, natives with the birds they encourage along with herbs, fruit and vegetables for use. The garden has expanded and given depth to this family courtyard.
