23-24 NOVEMBER 2024

Garden Bus Tours

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November 2022

Following the success of our previous bus tours, we are offering more this year, visiting a carefully selected range of gardens catering for a wide range of interests.

The tours will give you an insight into the gardens, the designers and provide plant selection information with printed notes and plans. At the last garden of each tour, we will round off the day with an opportunity for an informal walk around the garden, glass of wine in hand.

Feedback from the 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 tours was outstanding.

Led by Penny Cliffin former lecturer in Landscape Architecture at Unitec and Anna-Maria Morris, qualified landscape designer. Both are long serving and active members of the Garden Design Society, and love sharing gardens with fellow garden enthusiasts. The bus tour will visit half the gardens on Saturday and the other half on Sunday. Numbers are limited, so please book early through iTicket to avoid disappointment - https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2022/nov/auckland-garden-designfest

The tour meeting point will be outside the Recreation Centre (Gym) at Unitec, Institute of Technology, 139 Carrington Road, Mt Albert. Enter from Gate 3 or 4 on Carrington Road. Please arrive in time to depart on the bus at 9am.

Cost: $175 for one day, and $330 for those registering for both days. This price includes a delicious picnic lunch, refreshments, coach travel, tour guides, entry fees and garden notes. Further information including pick up time and location will be emailed to you.

Please note:

  • We are unable to accommodate delegates with wheel chairs and walking frames. Not because the gardens are wheelchair 'unfriendly' but due to the logistics of getting on and off the bus and because the tour will be visiting (almost) all gardens including those gardens not having suitable or any wheelchair access. This year's festival organisers have actually assessed all gardens as to their wheelchair suitability and have deemed 12/18 gardens wheelchair friendly!

  • The tour may be varied or cancelled as circumstances change.

  • Refer to the iTicket website for conditions of cancellation.

  • We reserve the right to vary or cancel the tour should circumstances change beyond our control.

  • Please remember to wear sturdy shoes and to bring sun and rain wear - just in case!
